This arrangement is loosely based off of the American Idiot Musical Cast version, but takes lots of sections in unexpected directions. Highlights of the song include a chorus of simulated string sections, two key changes, dramatic dynamics, some quieter sections with beautiful clashing notes, and a stomping and clapping breakdown near the end. The end is different from the cast version, and is both dramatic and powerful!
This arrangement ideally involves the mezzos (voice parts can be switched around if the sopranos in your group are the belters) belting C's on the melody, which creates a very cool rock sound. There are four solos which can be any gender, but work best as two girls and one or two guys.
We really loved singing this arrangement, which showcases both the tender ballad and intense rock capabilities of the singers!
